Mapping Skills

As part of our home learning, UKS2 have been developing their mapping skills.  We have been learning about a wider variety of Ordnance Survey map symbols,  recapping on four figure grid references and exploring how to read and record six figure grid references.  We also found out about time zones and why we need them and calculated the time in different parts of the world using our knowledge of different zones.
We developed our skills in using an atlas to locate lots of different countries in Europe.  We found out that the largest country in Europe is Russia and found out a few place names that quite a few of us had never heard before, such as the Ukraine and Belarus.

We enjoyed looking at a map of London. We spotted landmarks, followed the route of the River Thames and created a key.

We understand the points on a compass.
