Computing (ICT)

Welcome to Computing at St Peter's!

As of September 2014 Computing has replaced ICT as a subject within the National Curriculum.

All the old skills will still be taught and developed through the use of ICT within other curriculum subjects.  However, Computing now focusses more on the teaching of programming and internet safety.

ICT is used throughout the school on a daily basis.  We developed our children's skills through the use of our wide range of laptops, netbooks, cameras, iPads and many other pieces of hardware.

At St Peter's we also subscribe to a number of sites to support children in their learning both within Computing and other subjects. These include  PurpleMash, Discovery Education Espresso, Discovery Education Coding  and ActiveLearn, Matheletics.

As recommended to most schools, we follow the South West Grid for Learning scheme of work. These are based on Common Sense Media’s FREE Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum, which empowers learners to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world. These 21st-century skills are essential for children and young people to harness the full potential of technology for learning.
