We spent time reflecting on the fact that 1 in 10 people around the world do not have access to clean, safe drinking water and that 1 in 3 people do not have access to a proper toilet.  These facts really astounded us, especially when we represented this visually with the bodies in our class.  We watched some video clips showing children our age walking miles every day to collect dirty water and then carrying the water back on their heads, which damages their necks and spines.  This led us to consider this quote from the Bible:

“Let us love, not in word or speech but in truth and action”

1 John 3:18

We believe that access to safe clean water is a human right and so we discussed ways in which we could take action to support this right for everyone.  We learned about the actions that charities, such as Water Aid and Christian Aid have taken to support.  We also reflected on how taking these actions would link to our school Christian values of compassion, trust, peace, friendship, respect and love.
