Commando Joes!!

Mission one!

Friday 24th January 2020

Today Maple class were given their first mission brief. We learned about Nellie Bly and her amazing accomplishments. She fought for women’s justice and was the first female war correspondence. Her biggest achievement was travelling around the world in 72 days.

We we were unable to use the hall so we improvised and used the classroom as our base.

The children were split into their school houses. They were given the map that she used and had to use classroom resources to recreate her world map, to help us on our adventure.

Take a look at what they accomplished!!

Friday 10th January

THE BIG LAUNCH!!

Today 'Commando Joes' was launched. The children were kept in suspense all week about what it was. Mr Holmes placed posters around the school giving children clues.

Friday afternoon, filled with anticipation, the children made their way down to the hall. This is where they saw it. A huge crate with locks on. If the children wanted to know what was inside they had to work as a team and complete a mission.

Mr Holmes had set up the most creative of scenes behind a curtain. One member from each team had to secretly make their way to the scene and back again. Using only their voices, they had to describe the scene to their team to replicate.

IF the scene was a good enough replica of Mr Holmes' then our class got to cut off our lock. Luckily, after a a great deal of team work, we managed to succeed and pass our first mission!

STAY TUNED FOR MORE MISSIONS COMING UP!!
