Science

As part of our plants topic in science, we have learnt about trees and their leaves. We then had a leaf hunt in our woodlands!

This afternoon we had some special visitors - Blossom class came to visit us and tell us about the life cycle of a butterfly because they have been learning all about it!

Today we investigated different animals to find about the similarities and differences. We played ‘Who am I?’ to try and find out which animal our partner had. Following this we then looked at the different types of animals such as, mammals, fish, birds, amphibians and reptiles. This then helped us to focus our questions and find out more about the animal.

Today we took our science lesson outside! We learnt about craters on the moon. We then went outside in the snow, made out own moon and created our own craters! We used different size balls to see which would make the biggest craters. We then used our footsteps to make even bigger craters!

We have been learning all about light sources and shadows! We learnt  how a shadow is formed. We then made a shadow puppet, turned the lights off and used a torch to see the shadows we can make!
Today we looked at different materials. We sorted out objects into the material they were made from. We then looked around our classroom and school at different objects and sorted them into our own display.

Today we looked what we looked like as a baby, we then wrote we we did when we were a baby and what we can do now as a child!

This afternoon we learnt all about our different senses! We tested our, listening skills, our looking skills, our tasting skills and our smelling and touching senses!
This afternoon we drew around ourselves and labelled our body parts!!
This afternoon we have had a fantastic afternoon! To celebrate Roald Dahl day we have done lots of science experiments like George does in George’s marvellous medicine! We did an experiment in our class, then went to Almond class and then did one in Birch class!
