Geography
Beech class have developed their Geography fieldwork skills by going on a geocaching hunt. They used GPS devices to navigate towards hidden caches in the school grounds. Once their GPS device bleeped to show them they were near, they had to use their vision to hunt down the hidden clue. The clues were jigsaw pieces of a map of Chorley that they needed to piece together. We developed our skills of using a compass and following directions, as well as developing our problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork skills.

Learning about contour lines on maps and creating our potato hill models.
As part of our mapping topic, we explored Ordnance Survey map symbols in Geography and used map keys to identify what the symbols meant.

Year 5 had the fantastic opportunity to work with U Develop to record their own podcasts on the subject of climate change. Jess and Charlotte helped us to gather information that would be suitable for our podcast and then we used special equipment to record and edit what we wanted to say. We can't wait to share our final versions with you when they are ready!
