International Day

Elder class had a lovely time finding out about Italy for International Day. We compared Italy to the UK by looking at a variety of types of maps and lots of photos. We also looked at some famous buildings in Italy and drew some sketches of them.

Chestnut Class had a brilliant day learning about Spain. We learned greetings and numbers in Spanish with the help of our two native speakers. We learned about festivals and traditions, food and music. We also researched where else in the world Spanish is spoken.

The children enjoyed celebrating International Day. They found out how you travel to France, made flags, enjoyed a traditional French breakfast in our class cafe. They constructed the Eiffel Tower and learnt how to say hello, goodbye and thank you.

Cedar Class celebrated International Day by taking a tour of The Netherlands! We found out lots if interesting facts and located the country, it’s capital city and the countries which border it, in an atlas. We then created our own abstract artwork based on the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian.

Beech class celebrated International Day by finding out more about the country of India.  We learned to count to ten in Hindi, created some Rangoli patterns, watched some Indian dancing and listened to Indian music as well as working in groups to carry out a Geography atlas treasure hunt to help us discover more about this fascinating country.  Miss Jordan very kindly shared with us lots of her travel pictures from when she visited India.
