Phonics Screening Check

During the Summer Term children in Year 1 complete a Phonics Screening Check. This is a statutory test provided by the Department of Education. The test results are fed back to parents within the end of year report. Children in Year 2 who did not meet the expected standard in Year 1 or who haven’t taken the check before will be tested.  This check is designed to confirm whether individual children have learnt phonics decoding and blending skills to the required standard.
