Remembrance Day

Beech class had a visit from our Year 1s in Elm class today who shared with them the poems they have been writing linked to Remembrance day and the story they have been reading in class. Beech class loved hearing what they had written.

KS1 have created some beautiful poppy art to celebrate Remembrance Day. They also learnt about the significance of the poppy.

We will remember them

To mark Remembrance Day, Beech class have been learning the poem 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae.  The pupils have reflected so thoughtfully on what each line means in the poem and have shown such lovely respect for why it is so important to never forget the millions of soldiers who went off to war and never returned.  We also discussed about remembering soldiers who are still fighting in conflicts today all over the world.  The pupils were then inspired to write their own poems on the theme of war.

Please follow the link to hear our performance.  We have had to split it up into three separate clips to allow it to be uploaded to our website.

KS2 poems inspired by Remembrance Day

KS1 have produced some fantastic writing linked to their work on Remembrance Day......
We have been learning about the significance of the poppy. We have also thought about what would be in a soldiers picket, we then wrote a poem about it.
