Safer Internet Day 2024

Today we celebrated "Safer Internet Day".

We started off looking at how technology has changed over the years - the children couldn't believe that phones originally had to be plugged in, didn't have cameras or the internet! The children then sorted different devices into the oldest to the newest.

We then read a story about two children who like watching videos online. The two children were watching their favourite video about penguins and then suddenly another video began which made the worried and scared. The children made the right choice and turned it off and went and told their Dad. Their Dad then changed their settings on the tablet and praised the children for telling him.

We then discussed what we learnt from the story, how each part would have made the children feel and who their trusted adults are.

We then spoke about how every time we use the internet, it creates a digital footprint that cannot be moved so we need to make sure we are safe and responsible online.

Elm Class enjoyed taking part in Safer Internet Day.
