We have been working on our Digital Literacy in Class 7 and learning about how to keep safe online. Today we learned all about how to create a secure password and how to ensure we keep things private online. We explored the do's and don'ts of creating a good password and had a go at creating one (don't worry- these are not our real passwords!!)
We then talked about how to be respectful when you are sending a text or email. It is easy to offend people with what you are typing when you can't see the person's facial expressions of hear their tone of voice.
Lego stop-motion animation
We have had a fantastic time learning how to use stop-animation to bring our stories to life. We worked in small groups to create a story of two characters racing each other. This was linked to our Literacy work on the fable of 'The Penguin and the Ostrich'. By making small movements in our characters and taking photos for each slight movement, we could animate our stories. We learned that this art form took a lot of patience as well as time and effort. We had to think about lighting, voice-over and backgrounds for our animations. Matthew commented that:
"It was very hard being the director and trying to get everyone to do what I wanted them to do!"
We will never watch Wallace and Gromit again without thinking about all the hard work that goes into making such animations!
On Tuesday 7th February, it was Internet Safety Day and Class 7 took part in different activities to learn about how they can stay safe online. We discussed in groups how photos can give people first impressions of you. It got us thinking about how we have to be careful when posting or sending pictures, particularly of ourselves, on the internet or through social media. The pupils came up with some super top tips about how to keep your photos safe.......
Matthew said "you should only share a photo of someone else, if you have their permission".
Maddison thought "only post or send photos that you feel comfortable with others seeing".
Kaitlyn said "you should never send photos to someone you don't know!".
We also took part in some role play scenarios, where the pupils had to think about what they should do in certain situations. A lot of our responses involved telling an adult we trust. Have a look at some our work from this week.....
