Living in the Wider World

We have had a visit today from Rachel and Charlie from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. We learnt the good and bag things a fire can be used for. We then discussed the use of matches and children should not touch them. Rachel and Charlie then explained what we need to do if our clothes set on fire; stop, drop and roll!  A child in a wheelchair would need somebody to put a coat on them and pat them to stop the fire spreading. We then learned how a smoke alarm works and how there is a clever alarm for people that are deaf.

Smokey the fire Teddy taught us his fire plan:

Check the door handles to see if they’re cold or hot.

Crawl on the floor

Shout to warn other people

Once outside, NEVER go back inside.
Call the Fire Brigade

We have all been involved in the School Council Election process. Our first job was to write our manifestos and present them to the class. We voted for 6 children who then created posters to persuade children to vote for them. On Election Day, we went into the hall to vote at the polling booths and put our voting slip into the ballot box. The results of our 2 winning children will be announced in assembly on Friday.
