HARVEST CELEBRATION IN CHURCH
Today, the Lower Junior Department helped the whole school and community celebrate Harvest in St. Peter's Church.
Cedar Class reminded us what Harvest was all about - that if we live more simply, others could simply live. Did you know that the world can feed its population twice over but its resources are not shared fairly. By changing our hearts and sharing more, we can change the world.
Hawthorn Class invited the whole audience to participate in our new game show 'Ready, Steady Pepper!' Everyone had cards with a picture of a red and a green pepper. The children had researched facts using the internet and were offered 2 alternative answers. For example, 'How many seeds are in an average strawberry?'
'Is it 200 or 50? Show a red pepper for 200 or a green pepper for 50. Show us your cards, Ready, Steady, Pepper!'
We loved seeing everyone vote and learn from 7 questions we had researched about food and Harvest.
Elder class helped us imagine a different kind of world. A world where we share and take care of everyone. We thanked God and prayed for a better world.
