Get Up and Move session for Healthy Me Month
We had a great time moving and co-ordinating to pop music. Our heart beat certainly rose with the beat of the music. We felt our hearts reach 98 - 114 beats per minute for some of us. We practiced a few yoga moves too and finished with a lovely cool down session.
CRICKET SKILLS with Dan the coach
ACTIVE LEARN COACHING
Class 10 have been really working hard building up stamina and strength with circuit training activities.
Class 10 have been developing their mirrored, matched and counter balances on full gym equipment such as climbing frames and horse box.
We have incorporated travelling, 2 and 3 point balances and then improvised mirrored balances when we have neared a classmate on equipment.
FAB session! Great control. Great dismounts using star and tuck jumps. Great balances. Great fun.
MIRROR, MATCH AND COUNTER
Today we worked in pairs to explore these types of balances. Can you see when we are matching one another or mirroring. When we match we tend to both face the same direction, when we mirror we face each other or turn our backs completely and execute the same positions.
During the session, we built up into counter balancing where we pushed against one another to keep a perfect balance.
We practiced start and end positions and holding our shapes and positions for at least 3 seconds.
BRONZE SPORTS AMBASSADORS - LEADERSHIP FOR YEAR 5
Today we worked with Chorley Sports Partnership on our leadership skills. We tried out activities we could use when leading games with younger children. We worked on how we could encourage positive play, improve activities to make sure everyone was joining in, how to keep games fair. We too, had a great time leading our classmates - modelling and demonstrating activities and will put all these skills into practice with our younger schoolmates.
Freddie Fit
Classes 9 and 10 had a super session getting fit with Freddie. He kept us all entertained, whilst making sure we all broke out in a sweat! We also learned all about the importance of a healthy balanced diet and why it is important to participate in daily exercise to keep our minds and bodies healthy.
TENNIS SKILLS
Today, we started perfecting our tennis skills with Dan our new coach. We practised controlling the racket and tennis ball then went on to develop forehand and backhand strokes.
