Health and Well-Being

Today we had a carbon monoxide workshop with Bonanza Creative. They learned that carbon monoxide can be accidentally made. It is found in log burners, ovens, boilers, gas fires and barbecues. The flames on a gas oven and boiler should be blue not orange and floppy. The flame in a fire can be orange/red because the carbon monoxide will tercel up the chimney and out into the air. We learned that the appliances should be checked every year. barbecues should also never be taken inside when lit.

It is difficult to know if there is carbon monoxide as it can’t be seen, heard smelt or tasted.

The children learned that if they think there is carbon monoxide they should:

1) Turn the appliance off.

2) Open the windows

3) Go outside

4) Ring a safety gas engineer.

We have been learning about the brain. We know that when we feel sad, angry, worried or upset, only 1 part of the brain works. To help our other parts wake up, we can do happy breathing.
