Monday 21st September
Today we started our DT project. We are creating a sliding mechanism and linking it to our English book - The Lost Happy Endings. We will be trying to make Job (our main character) climb up the tree, so she can spread her Happy Endings.
First the children were set the task of finding the right material to make their slider out of and the most substantial material to make their base out of.
The children independently tried each slider with each base and worked out with one was best. Why don't you ask them what they found out.
We also took this opportunity, whilst the weather was glorious, to go outside and find a suitable stick to test as a slider.
Thursday 24th September
Today, the children were set a task. They were not given any instructions at all. They were asked to make a sliding birthday card. Firstly they made it out of paper. Secondly they made it out of card.
Why don't you ask them which one worked better and why?
Friday 25th September
Today we finished our ‘Happy Endings’ sliding mechanism.
Here is is how they turned out.....
