Brutalist Architecture

Brutalist Architecture

Year 5 have started a new genre in Art by learning about Brutalist Architecture.  We first of all discussed what an architect does and what their job might entail.  We looked closely at photos of Britain after WW2 and learned about why cities needed regeneration after the war.  We have been exploring the angular shapes and repeated patterns from a Brutalist building in London called Robin Hood Gardens.

Year 5 have been thinking about how environment might affect how people live and thinking more about the brutalist style of architecture.  We have also been working on drawing with perspective.

Year 6 enjoyed making prints of their own Brutalist Architecture designs.
