Explorers

In KS1 we have learnt about explorers from the past and present. Alyssa Azar reaches the summit of Everest at the age of 21. We thought about the conditions that she would have experienced on her expedition.

In our topic about Explorers, we talked about the difference between the words ‘significant’ and ‘famous’. We have learnt about different explorers from the past - Neil Armstrong, Captain Scott and Christopher Columbus. We compared their journeys and thought about who might be the most significant.

Alyssa Azar is an young explorer from Australia. In 2019, at the age of 19, she became the youngest person to reach the summit of Mount Everest. We discussed her exploration and thought about whether her challenge was easier or harder than the one Captain Scott undertook all those years ago.
