The Maya

We have been busy exploring different sources to try and find evidence for proving different statements about the Maya.

Maya Homework Projects

Using sources about the Maya to try and prove statements made about them.
Using the fabulous 'History in Infographics' books about the Maya to find out more interesting information all about this period of History.

Although we haven't been in school for a while, that hasn't stopped Year 5 finding out about our new period of History, the Maya.  Here are some of the information reports that we created after finding out more about this fascinating period of History.

As part of our remote learning, we also researched all about the dangerous game of Pok-ta-Pok, a ball game played by the Ancient Maya.  After our research, we created a 'How to play guide' to the game. 
Year 5 have used their knowledge of the Maya so far to create kenning poems about the ancient civilisation.
KS2 have been learning about the Maya. It has been really interesting and we have found out some really fascinating facts about life in Maya times. We have discovered facts about number, family life and the Gods they worshipped.

This week we discovered that the majority of the Maya diet consisted of corn or maize. They also ate lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as turkey. To see what meal times would be like for the Maya, we made corn tortillas and tasted them. We are glad that we have a much greater variety of food today!
