Observation Over Time

Elm Class planted sunflower seeds after discussing what a plant needed to grow. The children will observe them over the coming weeks and record their findings.

This afternoon Birch class discussed what is needed for a plant to grow. We know that a plant needs food from soil, water and sunlight. We then planted our own sunflower. We decided the best place to keep our sunflowers. We are going to  observe our sunflowers grow over time.

We planted cress seeds and watched them grown over time. We planted them in different conditions to see what they needed to grow. This linked in nicely with how to care for living plants. We then tasted the cress once it had grown. We also planted sunflower seeds and vegetables ready to plant outside next term. We then added these to our garden centre role play area for the children to actively take care of them and observe them during their play.
